OOPSLA 2006 – Fantazic Favorites

10월 22일부터 26일까지 Portland Oregon에서 열리는 OOPSLA 2006 컨퍼런스에 참가하게 됐다.

플랫폼/시스템 업무와의 연관성이 높기 때문에 랩장님이 권해주셨고, (사실 내년 Agile 2007에 꼭 참가하고 싶었는데) 기회가 됐을 때 갔다 오는 것도 좋을거 같아서 컨퍼런스 신청을 했다.

OOPSLA는 ‘Object-Oriented Programming, Systems, Languages, and Applications’라는 뜻으로 Gang of Four가 Design Patterns를 발표한 20년 이상의 역사를 가진 컨퍼런스이다. 올해는 Gang of Four 중의 한명인 John Vlissides을 추모하는 모임도 있다.

IT 컨퍼런스가 대부분 비슷한 형태를 띄겠지만, OOPSLA는 초청 강연, 워크샵, 논문 발표, Tutorial, Onward!, Panel 토론 등 다양한 형태로 다양한 주제를 다루게 된다.

비공식 가이드에서도 추천 리스트를 제공해주고 있는데, 나도 나름데로 참가할만한 주제를 뽑아보았다.

켄트 벡은 모든 컨퍼런스에 배우자와 같이 참가한다고 하는데, 정인이도 컨퍼런스 참가는 안해도 포틀랜드는 같이 갈 예정이다.

그런데 결정적으로 아직 비자가 나오지 않았다. 더 큰 문제는 여권도 아직 발급중인 상태…. 최단 시간으로 모든 것들이 준비가 되야 성공적으로 컨퍼런스에 참가할 수 있는데, 미리 준비하고 있는 수 밖에. ^^
